While trying to archive avchd footage from an SDHC card to a DVD on my internal drive of my 2009 Macbook Pro unibody, I got all kinds of weird error messages in my console:
kernel SCSITaskUserClient - Invalid arguments: scatterGatherEntries = 1, requestedTransferCount = 0, transferDirection is 0
kernel SAM Multimedia: READ or WRITE failed, SENSE_KEY = 0x05, ASC = 0x21, ASCQ = 0x00
kernel disk5: I/O error.
Disconnected all my external drives, both USB and Firewire 800 and I was able to burn a disc using BURN in the finder. I perviously tried in finder and in Toast but got errors. No idea what is up but hope this helps. I am using single layer 4 gig high quality Tyo Yuden DVDs.

Hi, Richard
The canned air trick worked fine for me. Burning DVDs had failed a dozen times before - then it worked straight away. So apparently in fact a "dust problem" and not a software issue.
